The performances at August Lakes today in Katy, Texas at the Pro Wake Tour powered by Supra Boats were the best many have ever seen. The stellar conditions at this man made facility and an amazing wake from the Supra Boats SA 550 created the perfect platform for the professional and junior professional wakeboarders as well as the professional wakesurfers to put on an incredible show.

Learn about the PWT digital qualifier!

In the Pro Wakeboarding Final, Sam Brown led off the line up of the 6 rider final with some of the biggest names in the sport including Rapa, Teunissen, Oka and Pifferetti. After the first set of runs in the best of two run format, Cory Teunissen was sitting solidly in the top spot, then came Sam Brown’s final run. Sam kicked off the second round by putting down a line that was so prominent almost every rider on the dock proclaimed him the winner before they even took their second run. For Sam’s last move he landed a Nuclear Ole 720, a move that he had only landed once before and it had never been done in a contest.

Pro Wake Tour Marketing Director, Devin Tatro said, “The riding was absolutely incredible at this first event and it’s so good to be back to live – in person events, there is nothing quite like it.”

In addition to the performances, the wakeboarding and wakesurfing fans came out in droves to be a part of one of the first live wakeboarding events to return. The huge crowd helped to push the athletes to deliver their phenomenal runs.

The kick off of the 2021 Pro Wake Tour Powered by Supra Boats also carried an International field with winners from Australia, Switzerland, and the United States. Between the quality of the conditions and this diverse field the Pro Wake Tour is setting the standard in 2021 for professional wakeboarding and wakesurfing events.

In Pro Wakesurfing the 3 time Pro Wake Tour Champion Sean Silveira put down what is likely the most technical, smooth, and stylish wakesurfing competitive run ever landed. The shape of the Supra SA 550 wake was absolutely spectacular which allowed these guys to stomp nearly perfect runs. Right behind Silveira were the technically strong Swanson Brothers from Arizona. These three may very likely be in every final this year.

Three-time Pro Wake Tour Champion Sean Silveira ( 91.66) won the wakesurfing podium, while brothers Taylor Swanson (left, 70.00) and Camron Swanson (right, 64.33) came in second and third, respectively.

After having finished 2nd overall the past two years on the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour, Nic Rapa is more motivated than ever heading into the 2019 season. Somehow, injuries can’t fully stop this kid. Before the final stop last year, Rapa broke his leg, but because he was sitting in the top overall spot, he battled through the pain and found a way to compete. This year, he’s looking to stay healthy and get some redemption. With new tricks under his belt and even more focus, you’d be hard pressed to bet against the Australian.

This year is my first year riding for Supra, and I’m so stoked to have my own boat in Orlando. It’s been a ton of fun to be able to ride whenever and with whomever. I can ride as much as I want, and I’ve been able to push my riding really far this year. It’s also nice that the SA is the official tow boat of the Pro Wakeboard Tour. The wake is huge and consistent, which is why the level of competition has been off the charts this year. I know having the SA in my backyard has helped me a ton, including taking my first PWT win at the Colorado Springs stop in July.

One of my favorite features on the SA is the helm. It is really user-friendly without being overwhelming to look at or figure out. With all of Supra’s systems, everything is so customizable that it’s a ton of fun to play around with the wakes and waves and dial them in just how you like. Wakeboarding (and the little bit of wakesurfing I do) is a lot more fun with my SA. Of course, the SA also looks awesome. At 22 feet 8 inches, it’s not too big, but also not too small. The lines on it are gorgeous, and I love the colorway I’ve got.

Nic Rapa’s Supra SA 550 Bill Doster

How I Ride It:

Speed: 22.7 mph
Rope length: 77′
Custom Settings: Smart Plate @ 25
With my setup, the wake has a lot of size with a really nice transition all the way from the trough to the top. You don’t feel like you are cutting forever to try to get to the wake, and that transition helps a ton for soft landings when going wake to wake. The size is more than capable of boosting you way into the flats if you like that though, which I do! And the great thing is that the SA can be dialed back and be a really great wake for beginners too.
Ballast: I fill the stock ballast and have 750-pound plug-and-play bags in the rear. I’ll add in some lead and a smaller sack under each side seat to simulate a full boat.

How I Surf It:

Speed: 11.2 mph Custom Settings: Smart Plate @ 35 Ballast: Same as wake.
The wave is super easy to customize and change, so I do that a lot when I’m playing around on a wakesurfer.

How I Hang Out:

The SA has a ton of room for my friends and their gear. I love hanging and socializing on the boat after a set. Floating, laying out and listening to tunes is where it’s at!

Loudon, TN (July 9, 2017) – The Tennesee River hosted a battle for the ages yesterday at the Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro presented by Rockstar Energy. With Friday’s quarterfinal rounds on fire behind the Malibu M235, there was an intensity on the dock this afternoon that made certain we were about to see something special. Fans filled in on the water and lined the shores of Malibu’s Loudon, TN facility as the riders hit the water to deliver the pinnacle of wakeboard competition to a hometown crowd.

The first stop of the Malibu Evolution Pro Series and fourth stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series, the pressure was on the world’s elite professional men and women. An afternoon storm put a halt on the action before opening up to calm water and a shift in the rankings that put things closer than ever.

In the Pro Women’s division, an unfortunate injury took WBWS leader Giorgia Gregorio (ITA) out of the competition leaving a podium spot wide open for the taking after her dominant performance yesterday. Hitting the podium in third, Meagan Ethell (USA) threw down a solid run that included a H/S 540 and a stylish melon off axis 360 to score 64.67 points. The second place spot went to Larisa Morales (MEX) who looked like she was having the time of her life behind the Malibu M235 with a clean T/S 540 and solid grabs earning her a score of 70.00. Taking home the win, Nicola Butler (USA) stomped two stand up passes that included a super clean roll to blind to score 71.67.

“I’m happy to take the win today! Everyone is riding strong right now and I guess there is something about these Evolution Pro Series events that work with me. I felt great today and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event!” said Nicola Butler.

We saw another major shake-up in the Pro Men’s division. A strange series of events saw a crazy final round that ended up putting the rankings closer that ever with a 30 point spread amongst the top four riders on the Wakeboard World Series. When Malibu team athlete Raph Derome (CDN) shows up he does so in style. Raph took the third spot with his signature flare on every trick throwing some insane mobe 540’s and 900’s along with a grabbed spin clinic that scored him 83.00. Noah Flegal (USA) saw an opportunity ripe for the taking and came out charging, hitting a moby dick 720 and grabbed cab 900 to take second with a score of 88.33. Nic Rapa took his second consecutive WBWS win today and revealed a technical mastery that had been kept under wraps until today’s final. Rapa earned a 96.00 score with two stand up passes highlighted by two double flips and a mute mobe 540 for the win. Nic Rapa (AUS) is now your WWA Wakeboard World Series leader.

“I’m happy with how this weekend turned out! A few tough conditions and a storm didn’t set us back and I’m pumped to have had the best ride of my career and take the win!” said Nic Rapa.
