Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour Returns with More Stops in 2016**

ORLANDO, Fla. (September 10, 2015) – The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour is propelling its way into the New Year growing the series from four stops last season, to five stops in 2016, it was announced today by Rick Tinker, president of Skier’s Choice, manufacturer of Supra Boats.  Pushing the boundaries with innovative products, the 23-year track record of the Pro Wakeboard Tour extends to 2016 serving up star-studded performances, all-new tricks, intense competition, more viewing options, sponsors and greater sport exposure.

“The 2015 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour was an extreme success with Bonnier’s Events team,” said Tinker.  “The audience, athletes and sponsorship throughout the tour gave us an overwhelming positive response to the product and competition that was on the 2015 calendar.  In 2016, we are adding an additional stop and are committed to seeing this historic event grow in the future.”

The 2015 season was a year of many firsts, including the first-ever wake-to-wake 1080 landed in a contest by Supra Boats Team rider, Cory Teunissen.  Teunissen, along with teammates young-gun Daniel Powers and veteran Austin Hair, are expected to return in 2016, putting their bodies on the line to edge out reigning champion, Harley Clifford.

“We are excited to announce the expanded partnership with the team at Supra Boats and Skier’s Choice to further this iconic wakeboarding series,” said Terry Dorner, vice president of Bonnier Corp.’s Events & Entertainment Group.  “Innovative formats, bigger purses and larger-than-life jumbotrons allowed it to grow outside of its means.  We will see many of the same things for the near year and this tour’s events involving Supra not only pioneered ground-breaking ways to run the series, it showed the passion for the sport is bigger than ever before.”

Through shared media properties owned by WAKEBOARDING, the 2015 tour was the most widely viewed in history.

The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes. The Supra Boats’ wakes are expected to push pros to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for the driver and judges in the boat. The 2016 Supra Boats are powered with the high-torque 6.2L ROUSHCHARGED Raptor Engine by Indmar.

Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour in Janesville Wraps up with Cory Teunissen Winning Men’s Professional Wakeboarding, Landing First Ever Wake-to-Wake 1080 and a Breakthrough Moment Award****

**Harley Clifford Wins Overall 2015 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour Title

**

JANESVILLE, Wisc. (August 1, 2015) — The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour at Traxler Park opened up the competition day to waterski demos and the National Anthem from The Rock Aqua Jays, clear skies, warm temperatures, smooth waters and large crowds that lined the beach and bleachers.  World class athletes from more than five countries came to compete for podium spots and the largest purse in tour history.  Australia’s Cory Teunissen and Supra Boats team rider ultimately won the show, landing the first-ever wake-to-wake 1080 in a contest, a backside 720, heelside 900 and two mobe 5’s.  Teunissen’s 1080 also won him the breakthrough moment award, and $4,000.  Harley Clifford took home the overall champion title of the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour.

The titanic wakes of the Supra Boats’ SE550 launched riders into the air, making competition extra intense with the best athletes around the globe continuously turning the heat up.  The Men’s Professional Wakeboarding division held its quarter and semi-finals early in the afternoon, whittling down the 18 riders, to 9 and finally to six for the grand finale.

Moving on from heat one in the quarter-finals was Shota Tezuka (JPN), Teunissen (AUS) and Phillip Soven (USA).  Heat two rippers were Mike Dowdy (USA), Massi Piffaretti (ITA) and Noah Flegel (USA).  In the final of three heats, riders who advanced in were Clifford (AUS) in first, Tony Iacconi (AUS) in second and Josh Twelker (USA) in third.

Throwing down on the course first for the semi-finals was Twelker, followed by Tezuka and Teunissen in heat one of three.  All had great passes, but Tezuka and Teunissen edged Twelker out for a chance at a spot in the finals.  In heat two, Dowdy and Flegel moved on, along with Clifford and Soven of heat three.

It was the most gut-wrenching final heat of the season, filled with intense emotions and the pros rode for broke.  Each competitor had two runs and could only fall once, or they were done.  All six riders fell on their first passes, having to then make up the points in the second run – it was anyone’s podium at that point.

On the second set of runs, Teunissen was the only one out of the six athletes who stood up the entire two passes.  Soven, who turned pro in 2000 when he was 10 years old, fell on his way to the end of pass one and broke the podium spot.  Teunissen would take gold this run in first place with 96.00 points, followed by Clifford in second with 82.67 points, and Tezuka in third with 78.33 points.

“I’m stoked to win.  I didn’t have a good week coming it, as I spent most of it off the water and not riding,” said Teunissen.  “The way it played out and I ended up riding, I am just so happy.  I stuck a 1080, which is the first one ever done in an actual contest pass which is huge!”

Clifford, who placed first at three other tour stops, ultimately won the entire tour.  “Every year we all come in knowing that the Pro Tour is the biggest thing ever.  Today’s riding wasn’t the best; I’ve been hurt the past two weeks and today was the first time riding since then.  I had an unfortunate fall and missed the win here in Janesville, but I’m happy!”

Traxler Park was the fourth and final stop around the United States for the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour event series.  Other stops included Texas, Georgia and California.

The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes.  The Supra Boats’ wakes are expected to push pros to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for the driver and judges in the boat. The 2015 Supra Boats are powered with the high-torque 6.2L Roush Charged Raptor  by Indmar.

**Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour in Lathrop Wraps up with Harley Clifford Winning Men’s Professional Wakeboarding

Keenan Flegel Wins Pro Skim and Chris Wolter Wins Pro Wakesurf**

LATHROP, Calif. (July 11, 2015) — The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour and Pro Wakesurf Tour at Mossdale Quary Lakes opened up the competition day to clear skies, smooth waters and large crowds that lined the beach.  World class athletes from more than five countries came to compete for podium spots and the largest purse in tour history.  Australia’s Harley Clifford ultimately won the show, Men’s Professional Wakeboarding, landing a heelside 900, nuclear blind pete, an indy double tantrum, back mobe 540 and shut out the rest of the pack with a handle-pass backside 900.  Keenan Flegel took the top prize home for Pro Skim, while Chris Wolter was hailed the champion of Pro Wakesurf.

The titanic wakes of the Supra Boats’ SE550 launched riders into the air, making competition extra intense with the best athletes around the globe continuously turning the heat up.  The Men’s Professional Wakeboarding division held its quarter and semi-finals early in the afternoon, whittling down the 16 riders, to 12 and finally to six for the grand finale.

Moving on from heat one in the quarter-finals was Phillip Soven (USA), Rusty Malinoski (CDN) and Josh Twelker (USA).  Heat two rippers were Mike Dowdy (USA), Noah Flegel (USA) and Daniel Powers (USA).  Riders who advanced in heat three were Cory Teunissen (USA) in first, Tony Iacconi (AUS) in second and Austin Hair (USA) in third.  In the final of four heats, Harley Clifford (AUS), Tony Carroll (USA) and Parker Siegele (AUS) moved on.

Throwing down on the course first for the semi-finals was Powers, followed by Siegele in heat one of three.  Both had great passes, but Dowdy and Soven ended up edging them out for a chance at a spot in the finals.  In heat two, Carroll and Teunissen moved on, along with Clifford and Noah Flegel of heat three.

The main event heat was intense and everyone rode for broke.  Each competitor had two runs and could only fall once, or they were done.  Teunissen, who is second on the tour currently, fell on his first trick, putting him at the bottom of the heat after run 1.  Harley Clifford sealed the deal with huge tricks earning him a score of 95.67, to edge out Mike Dowdy, with a 92.00.  In third place was Supra Boats Noah Flegel, with a score of 85.67.

Clifford said it was one of the toughest wins he’s ever had to pull through.  “Today was awesome.  Everyone was killing it, but I knew what I had to do and the scores to beat.  I threw down and took the win – it feels great.”

Pro Skim boarders had one heat of six riders to start the semi-finals off, and ultimately two moved onto the finals.  Keenan Flegel moved into the finals standing in first place with 109.1 points, followed by younger brother Keenan Flegel with 108.2 points and Aaron Witherell with 107.4 points in third.

Final results would leave it as Keenan Flegel in first with 115.20 points, and Noah Flegel in second with 112.10 points.

Keenan Flegel said his first run was pretty rough.  “I stood up on my first pass and did more basic tricks.  The second pass in finals went well – I did a gumby shove, front shove, switch shove and a frontside 360.”  He later added his Madonna also helped sealed the deal, in addition to his variety of moves.  A Madonna is where a rider grabs the board and sticks a leg out to the side, while the half and half is two shoves, combined with a floater on top of the wave.

Six Pro Wakesurfers hit the water for the semi-finals in the early morning hours with Keenan Flegel (USA), finishing in first place with 110.9 points, followed by Chris Wolter (USA) in second with 103.3 points and finally Noah Flegel (USA), with 102.8 points in third place.

Only the top two riders in the heat advanced to the finals.   In the end Wolter barely edged out Keenan Flegel and took first place with 108.60 points, followed by Flegel in second with 108.30 points.

Mossdale Quary Lakes is the third of four stops around the United States for the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour event series.  The final stop will be in Janesville, Wisc., on August 1.

The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes.  The Supra Boats’ wakes are expected to push pros to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for the driver and judges in the boat. Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour in Acworth Wraps up with Harley Clifford winning Men’s Professional Wakeboarding

** Keenan Flegel wins Pro Skim and Pro Wakesurf**

ATLANTA (June 6, 2015) — The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour and Pro Wakesurf Tour at Dallas Landing Park on Lake Allatoona opened up the competition day to clear skies, smooth waters and large crowds that lined the beach and course line with more than 175 boats in the flotilla. World class athletes from more than five countries came to compete for podium spots and the largest purse in tour history. Australia’s Harley Clifford ultimately won the main event, Men’s Professional Wakeboarding, landing a heelside 900, an indy double tantrum, back mobe 540 and toeside 720.

The titanic wakes of the Supra Boats’ SE550 launched riders into the air, making competition extra intense with the best athletes around the globe continuously turning the heat up. The Men’s Professional Wakeboarding division held its quarter and semi-finals early in the afternoon, whittling down the 18 riders, to nine and finally to six for the big moment.

Moving on from heat one in the quarter-finals was Phillip Soven (USA), Rusty Malinoski (CDN) and Parker Siegele (AUS). Heat two rippers were Cory Teunissen (AUS), Mike Dowdy (USA) and Tony Iacconi (AUS). In the final of three heats, Harley Clifford (AUS), Noah Flegel (USA) and Steel Lafferty (USA) moved on.

Throwing down on the course first was Siegele. He had an epic pass, but Malinoski and Soven ended up edging him out for a chance at a top three spot. In heat two of the semi-finals, Noah Flegel and Teunissen moved on, along with Clifford and Dowdy of heat three.

The final heat was fierce and everyone rode their hardest. Each competitor got two runs, and could only fall once, or they were done. Harley Clifford sealed the deal with huge tricks earning him a score of 97.00, to edge out Mike Dowdy, with a 95.00. In third place was Supra Boats team rider, Teunissen, with a score of 90.67.

Clifford said it was one of the toughest wins he’s ever had to pull through. “The way Dowdy and Cory rode was insane and I didn’t know if I had it in me. I went for broke and it was either going to be first or last place.” He added that the day was long, but couldn’t be more stoked for the win.

Pro Skim boarders had one heat of six riders to start the semi-finals off, and ultimately two moved onto the finals. Keenan Flegel moved into the finals standing in first place with 109.40 points, followed by Aaron Witherell with 92.10 points and Austin Keen with 91.50 points in third. Final results would leave it as Keenan Flegel in first with 103.90 points, and Aaron Witherell in second with 73.50.

Keenan Flegel said his first run was pretty rough. “I struggled on the first pass, but my front-side shove it at the end definitely got me into the finals. The second run went well with the first pass being a stand up.” He later added his Madonna, and the half and half, with back to back big spins sealed the deal. A Madonna is where a rider grabs the board and sticks a leg out to the side, while the half and half is two shoves, combined with a floater on top of the wave.

Six Pro Wakesurfers hit the water for the semi-finals in the early morning hours with Keenan Flegel (USA), finishing in first place with 103.00 points, followed by younger brother, Noah Flegel (USA), with 102.10 points and Dallas native, Parker Payne (USA), in third place with 100.10 points.

Only the two Flegels advanced to the finals. In the end Keenan took first place with 112.40 points, followed by Noah in with 105.10 points.

Keenan ended his second run with a Madonna, just like his Skim final, taking his second podium win of the day. Keenan finished up the day and said, “It’s really awesome to be here wakesurfing at the pro tour and I’m pumped for both of my wins.”

Lake Allatoona is the second of four stops around the United States for the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour event series. The final two stops include California and Wisconsin.

The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes. The Supra Boats’ wakes are expected to push pros to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for the driver and judges in the boat. Keenan Flegel wins Pro Wakesurf and Keenan Flegel wins Pro Skim**

The Colony, TX. (May 9, 2015) — The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour at Stewart Creek Park opened up its second and final day of competition to strong winds and heavy rains, temporary stifling the extreme riding of the world class athletes here to win bragging rights, podium spots and the largest purse in tour history. Australia’s Harley Clifford ultimately won the main event, Men’s Professional Wakeboarding, landing a heelside 900.

The gigantic wakes of the Supra Boats’ SE550 launched riders into the air, making competition extra intense.  The Men’s Professional Wakeboarding division held its semi-finals early in the afternoon, with six heats consisting of three riders throwing down on the course.   Ultimately, of the six heats, the top rider from each heat would move onto the final round.  Tony Iacconi (AUS), Cory Teunissen (AUS), Phillip Soven (USA), Noah Flegel (USA), Rusty Malinoski (CDN) and Harley Clifford (AUS) moved on.

The final heat was fierce and everyone wanted a top spot.  Harley Clifford sealed the deal with a heelside 900 earning him a score of 95.65, to edge out Supra Boats team rider, Cory Teunissen, with a 93.67.   In third place was Phillip Soven with a score of 88.33.

Clifford killed it with a toeside 900, backside 540, and a front mobe 540.  “I am really stoked on that win,” said Clifford.  “It was one of the most gratifying wins I’ve ever had.  Cory and Phil both killed it.  I stuck my tricks and won – feels good.”

Pro Wakesurfers hit the water for the second day in a row with Keenan Flegel (USA), finishing in first place with 100.50 points, followed by younger brother, Noah Flegel (USA) with 86.00 points and Dallas native, Parker Payne (USA), in third place with 85.50 points.

“I started out a little rough,” said Keenan Flegel.  “I fell on a few tricks that I normally don’t fall on.  My first pass I did a frontside shove, and my second pass I landed a passion pop.  It’s really awesome to be here wakesurfing at the pro tour and I’m pumped for my win.”

Pro Skim boarders finished up the day with one heat of six riders.  Final results would leave it as Keenan Flegel in first, Noah Flegel in second and Aaron Witherell in third, respectively.

Lake Lewisville is the first of four stops around the United States for the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour event series.  Other stops include Georgia, California and Wisconsin.

The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes.  The Supra Boats’ wakes are expected to push pros to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for the driver and judges in the boat. The 2015 Supra Boats are powered with the high-torque 6.2L Ford Raptor Engine by Indmar.

Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour Day 1 Wraps with Epic Riding and Athletes Moving on to Final Day of Competition

The Colony, TX. (May 8, 2015) — One of the largest and most prestigious action-packed sporting events on the planet kicked off today at Stewart Creek Park when the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour roared onto the water. The world’s best professional skim riders, wakesurfers and wakeboarders are competing in the annual event for a shot at podium honors and the largest purse in the tour’s history valued at $134,000.

The day was set up perfectly with warm temperatures and glass-like water for riders shredding behind the massive wakes of the Supra Boats’ SE550.  The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes.

Pro Skim boarders took to Lake Lewisville earlier this morning with 11 professionals in the solo heat.  Six riders advanced to the final, with Keenan Flegel, Aaron Witherell, Noah Flegel, Trevor Fearson, Austin Keen and Dallas native Parker Payne moving on.

Pro Wakesurfers hit the water second with one heat, consisting of 10 riders, throwing down epic tricks in order to advance to finals.  Six moved on, including Payne.  Keenan and Noah Flegel, brothers hailing from South Florida, each moved on in addition to another three pro athletes.

The Men’s Professional Wakeboarding division had five heats with the top two riders per heat qualifying for the final day of competition, beginning tomorrow.  Riders from all over the world came to participate, ranging from Italy and Australia, to Canada, Mauritius and around the USA.  Mike Dowdy, who came off an injury last season, placed first in his heat, followed by Brad Teunissen.

“I went out there today and the water was nice,” said Supra Boats team rider Teunissen.  “I had a little bobble on my first trick, but ended up sticking it.  I came back, did two mobe 5s and had a fall at end of first pass.  On the second pass I did a backside 540 and toeside 720 – overall I’m very happy and am pumped to be moving into tomorrow.”

Daniel Powers and Parker Siegele advanced from heat two, followed by Andrew Adkison and Massi Piffaretti of heat three.  Noah Flegel, the only pro to compete in all three divisions at the event, placed first in heat four, with Gunnar Shuler trailing behind.  In the fifth and final heat, Tony Carroll and Christian Primrose rounded out the day to move into tomorrow.

The action continues with the final day of competition tomorrow starting at 10:00 AM. At the culmination of the event, awards will be presented to the top athletes, as well as the progression trick.  Each of the four stops will pay out $30,000, and a progression award of $1,000 will be given to the rider at the selected stop that has a winning trick, accelerating the sport continually.

Lake Lewisville is the first of four stops around the United States for the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour event series.  Other stops include Georgia, California and Wisconsin.

Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour has Largest Pro Men’s Purse in 23 Year History of the Elite Event

$134,000 Purse at Stake

Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 26 , 2015) — The largest pro men’s purse in the 23 year history of the Pro Wakeboard Tour, $134,000, will be divided and at the conclusion of each of the four events around the U.S., $31,000 will be awarded to the riders.  The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour will be making stops around the United States, including Texas, California, Wisconsin, and Georgia.  The events will take place on Saturdays only, with the exception of the first stop beginning on a Friday with a chance to qualify for the first competition.

“The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour is focused on making pro men’s riding as progressive and innovative as possible,” said Rick Tinker, president of Skier’s Choice, manufacturer of Supra Boats. “The purse is almost one-third higher than last year, pays only the elite riders, and offers a huge incentive for the athletes to push the boundaries of the sport.”

This historic, $134,000 pro men’s purse reflects Supra Boats and Bonnier Corp’s commitment to and investment in the Pro Wakeboard Tour athletes.   All 18 positions will be paid out and riders will have a chance to go big or go home and vie for a lucrative spot on the tour.

“We have created a new benchmark for pro events,” said Matt Hickman, vice president of brand strategies at Bonnier Corp.  “With the largest pro men’s purse in PWT history and unmatched media exposure planned for 2015, athletes will realize more participant value than with any other event past or present.”

Each of the four stops will pay out $30,000, and a progression award of $1,000 will be given to the rider at the selected stop that has a winning trick, accelerating the sport continually. A $10,000 series bonus will be given to the winner at the end of the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour.

“I’m pumped for the progression award because it gives the riders a chance to throw down one huge, risky trick without it affecting the rest of our run.  Fans should see some new moves this year,” said young gun and Supra Boats team rider, Daniel Powers.

Stay tuned for information in the near future on the athletes and more! For details, visit www.wakeboardingmag.com/prowakeboardtour.

**New Supra Boats Pro Wakesurf Tour Announced

$30,000 Purse Three-Stop Series**

Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2015) — Supra Boats and Bonnier’s Corp.’s Events & Entertainment Group announces the creation of the inaugural Supra Boats Pro Wakesurf Tour, stated earlier today by Rick Tinker, president of Skier’s Choice, manufacturer of Supra Boats.  The new three-stop, $30,000 purse, series including the top surf and skim riders will take place at The Colony, TX (Dallas area), Acworth, GA (Atlanta Area), and Lathrop, CA (Sacramento area) in conjunction with the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour.

“Supra Boats and the family here at Skier’s Choice is pleased to announce the brand new, first-ever Pro Wakesurf Tour, in conjunction with the Pro Wakeboard Tour,” said Tinker.  “Having the best pro men’s athletes in two competition disciplines like surf and skim, in addition to wakeboarding at one epic event, is a tremendous undertaking.  We’re thrilled to see the best riding to date behind the massive wakes that the SE550 produces!”

The world’s top riders in Surf and Skim, will compete for their share of a $10,000 per-stop purse, for a total purse of $30,000.  Additionally, the top points finishers will receive a series bonus at the end of the tour.  The Supra Boats SE550 will be the official towboat of the Pro Wakesurf Tour.  The SE550 is also the official towboat of the Pro Wakeboard Tour.

“I am super excited to be able to ride in the first ever Pro Wakesurf Tour,” said Trevor Miller, Pro Wake Surfer and Supra Boats Team rider. “Riding at the Pro Tour will put competitive wakesurfing in front of more people than ever before and will be the perfect platform to showcase the amazing athleticism that goes on at this level of wakesurfing. I could not think of a better boat to pull this event than the new SE550. I have seen first-hand how it can throw both a pro level wakeboard wake and an equally amazing pro level surf wave. Be prepared to see some of the best wakesurfing witnessed at a competition!”

Stop number one at The Colony, TX, is a two-day event featuring an open qualifier in order to determine the elite field of riders for the following two, one-day events.  Stops two and three will feature a roster of the best six in surf and six in skim.

“The CWSA is excited to continue to promote the sport of wake surfing through our association with the Supra Boats Pro Wake Surf Tour,” said Scott Culp of the Competitive Wake Surf Association.  “We strive to support the most successful wake surf events that engage the riders and help grow the sport of wake surfing.  The tour will be a fun competition that will utilize the CWSA recommended consistent and fair standards, which govern all results. ”
